Native Bee Basics….

When we first came to our new homestead I was amazed by the numbers and vast variety of native bees pollinating the countryside! From the bumbling bumble bee, the industrious mason bees, various sting-less wasps, and hover flies, there is nary a European honey bees to be seen. That being said there are wild honey bees that visit the homestead, but the lion’s share of pollination on our place comes in the form of native pollinators with the vast majority being bees of one sort or the other! Check out this USDA Forest Service and Pollinator Publication on Bee Basics, it’s a plethora of great information!
